Château Mazeyres: Tasting & Drinking
The wines of Château Mazeyres themselves are perhaps not that familiar; they eschew the exciting, exotic, seductive nature that I associate with Pomerol, following instead a path more supple and restrained, with elegant tannins more valued than texture or substance. The first time I met Alain Moueix, maybe fifteen or twenty years ago now, he told me these former characteristics reflect the terroir with which he works, while richer wines of fruit and weight can be made anywhere, on any lesser soil.
