Château Hosanna: The Talazac Era

Little seems to be known of the Talazac family, despite being the proprietors of this new Certan estate. Their tenure of it seems to have lasted for close to half a century, as they are still listed as proprietors in the 1908 Cocks et Féret, in which the proprietor is named simply as Talazac (not jeune any more, then) and the production remains steady at 10 tonneaux, suggesting to change in the area of vineyard.

During the first half of the 20th century the property then seems to pass through the hands of several proprietors, and the name migrates from Château Certan to the rather logical Château Certan-Talazac and then to Château Certan-Marzelle. I have found no good explanation for the Marzelle suffix, but I assume like the Talazac suffix that predated it, it represents the name of a long-forgotten proprietor. It was soon to be of no relevance, however, as in 1956 the château was acquired by the Giraud family, and the name was changed once again, this time to Château Certan-Giraud.
