Château Vray Croix de Gay: Tasting & Drinking
Looking back over my tasting encounters with Château Vray Croix de Gay, it seems to me that there is untapped potential here. Some of the vines have an excellent position within the appellation, and yet if you look back to older vintages the wines tend towards a lean style, and they are rustic and lack charm. One has to question whether Paul Goldschmidt really had the focus that the estate required, his gaze perhaps distracted by Château Siaurac, Château Le Prieuré or other things, or perhaps he simply lacked the finances to make the investments the estate really deserved.
