Château La Pointe: Tasting & Drinking
My first encounters with the wines of Château La Pointe were not always very positive ones, and I wondered whether the large area of the vineyard planted on sandy soils may have contributed to the less fleet-footed character of the wines. As revealed by the soil survey perhaps it was the drainage more than the soil itself, but the point (no pun intended) still stands. These weren’t exciting wines. Which, of course, makes the improvement in quality seen since the Generali France takeover all the more obvious to the attentive taster.
