Château La Fleur-Pétrus: Tasting & Drinking

Most of my exposure to Château La Fleur-Pétrus comes from recent primeur assessments, naturally a process flawed by the unfinished nature of the wines, although I have tasted one or two more mature vintages. Even looking at the wines in this situation though it is clear that the quality produced at this estate today is extraordinarily high; these are wines of great style, showing a style and character more befitting of a plateau Pomerol than a more peripheral wine. They are not, in my opinion, despite the ease of the analogy, on the same level as the wines of Château Lafleur or Petrus, or indeed a blend thereof (not that I have ever been tempted or suitably equipped to test that theory).
