Château Lafleur-Gazin: Vineyards
The name Lafleur-Gazin tells us something of the location of the vineyard; it is, unsurprisingly, situated between Château Lafleur, to the west, and Château Gazin, just across the road to the east. This makes for some obvious comparisons, but to look at Lafleur-Gazin in the context of only these two neighbouring estates is perhaps false; we should take a broader overview of where we are in the appellation in order to obtain the fullest picture possible.
Yes, the estate is close to some very famous names, not only those mentioned above but also Petrus and Château La Fleur-Pétrus, both of them slightly closer at hand than Château Lafleur. Yet we should not overlook the fact that Château Lafleur-Gazin lies right on the edge of the Pomerol appellation; to the east, beyond Château Gazin, lies the boundary with St Emilion, and directly to the north runs the Barbanne, the limit of the appellation, and on the other side of that is Lalande-de-Pomerol.
