Château Guillot-Clauzel: Tasting & Drinking

Although Château Guillot-Clauzel is not a new domaine, wines having been produced under this label since 1991 (and as Château Graves-Guillot for many years prior to that) it is only in recent years, specifically with the involvement of Guillaume Thienpont, that the domaine has really come to my attention.

For this reason my experience with the wines of this domaine is minimal. I stopped off at the domaine to meet Etienne Clauzel and of course Guillaume Thienpont in early 2019, and found the wine to be no less charming than the estate’s proprietor. It seemed clear, however, that there is plenty of room for improvement here, the wine – if I may draw comparison with the estate’s neighbours for illustrative purposes – having more in common with the style chez Delon, at Château Nenin, than it did with the likes of Château Trotanoy or Le Pin.
