Château La Fleur de Gay: Tasting & Drinking
My original encounters with the wine of Château La Fleur de Gay were infrequent, with the 1993 the only older vintage I have tasted regularly. In more recent times, however, increasingly frequent visits to Bordeaux mean that I have had plenty of encounters with younger vintages.
The 1993 vintage always exceeded my expectations, with delightful complexity despite the weaker nature of the vintage. Nevertheless, my most recent assessment of it is perhaps the most accurate; this was a very good wine, especially taking into account the vintage, but it is unlikely to be the greatest wine to have come out of the estate in its thirty-year history.
