Château La Croix du Casse: Tasting & Drinking
The style of wine made at Château La Croix du Casse naturally reflects its terroir; it is simply not possible to get away from it in this corner of the appellation. This means these are not wines of great sinew or substance for laying down for many decades, in the manner of the appellation’s greatest wines from the clay and gravel soils at the peak of the Pomerol plateau. These are more elegant and fragrant wines, and while they should probably be expected to age for fifteen years, previous experiences suggest to me these are wines best enjoyed during the first ten years after the harvest.
