Château Beauregard: Tasting & Drinking
Château Beauregard has certainly had its ups and down over the years, but the wines do seem to be enjoying a better reputation than they once did. There are many potential explanations for this, most significantly a change in ownership in the 1990s, which seems to have awakened the estate from a period of mediocrity. The introduction of a second wine will have helped, and advice from Michel Rolland will also no doubt have been of benefit.
Having said that, my experience with the wines of Château Beauregard tell me that despite these improvements they are still made in a more delicate and lighter style than many others in the same appellation. They are not top tier in this part of Bordeaux; this is not an estate to look at alongside Château Le Pin, Petrus or Château L’Église-Clinet. But that does not mean the wines do not have interest, or potential for the cellar.
