That the vines of Château La Commanderie are rooted into the sandy soils in the southern corner of the Pomerol appellation immediately sets this property within a peer group, the members of which might include Château Taillefer, Château Ferrand, Château Plince and Château Pierhem (which is visible in the distance, beyond the vines, in the image on the previous page). When viewed in this light, the wines of Château La Commanderie show good character, with plenty of colour, good flavour and a handsome texture.
