Château La Marzelle: Tasting & Drinking
There is no denying the style at Château La Marzelle, the assemblage dominated by Merlot, the wine well worked to provide as much colour, fruit and extraction as possible. In the mouth the wines are sweet, textured, broad and structured, the frame of the wine carrying a wealth of grilled black cherry, black plum and damson fruit, with some very oaky nuances, everything from praline to cigars. Having said that, looking back in particular to the 2008 vintage, I never felt for one moment that the wine was completely over-worked or too aggressive in terms of style.
