Château Pavie-Decesse: Tasting & Drinking
There is no denying that this estate was revitalised under the aegis of Gérard Perse. It went from a state of near-anonymity, in which it was hardly unique within St Emilion, to one of considerable fame. Partly this was down to the association with Perse and with Château Pavie, two somewhat controversial names in the story of modern Bordeaux, and partly it was perhaps down to the confident pricing strategy (about half the price of its more famous neighbour, but still more expensive than many leading cru classé domaines). Perhaps most of all it was because the wines, being of a certain style, found favour with influential critics; high scores drive both demand and prices.
