Domaine de la Solitude: Tasting & Drinking

Having tasted a handful of recent vintages from Domaine de la Solitude, mostly in the period when the wines are still in barrel, there is definitely some promise here. While the wines do not provide a level of quality to match the best wines of the Pessac-Léognan appellation, they do offer a quite classical style and unassuming presence in the mouth. The wines tend to follow the style of the vintage, and so in red promising recent vintages include 2012, a stronger vintage in Pessac-Léognan than in many other corners of Bordeaux (especially on the left bank), 2010 of course, a good vintage across much of the region, and 2016, a year which gave us many enjoyable wines combining dark fruit profiles married with purity of flavour and fresh acid-framed structures.
