Château Haut Nouchet: Vineyards

Château Haut Nouchet is located in the backwaters of Martillac. The last time I looked upon it was in late-October, a few weeks after the harvest had finished. The vineyards were deserted, the ground damp and cool, and it was deathly quiet, the occasional rustling of leaves in the wind the only break in the silence. I was struck by how isolated it seemed, even though in fact it is only minutes from any number of well-known Pessac-Léognan names. Directly north is Château La Garde and Château Latour-Martillac, while to the west are the vineyards of Clos Marsalette, Château Lespault-Martillac and Domaine de la Solitude. To the south-east lies Château de Cruzeau.
