Clos Dady: Vineyards
As described in my introduction, Clos Dady is located in the commune of Preignac, and it lies very close to the course of the Ciron. The house and cellars back onto the trees which follow the river as it snakes its way towards Barsac and the Gironde. The vineyards lie close to the hamlets of Lamothe and Jean-du-Bosc (which sit either side of the Ciron) which places it in the western part of the commune, just to the south of the autoroute that bisects the appellation.
There are some notable neighbours, although as already noted this is not a corner of the appellation rich in classed growths. The aforementioned Château Haut-Bergeron is literally just around the corner, while a little way further south lies Château Suduiraut. It is beyond Preignac, in Bommes and Sauternes itself to the south west, that most of the famous classed growth estates can be found.
When Eli Ragimov and Igor Solomon acquired the estate in 2011 they bought the house, the cellars, and 9 hectares of vines. The majority of these vines lie in the Sauternes appellation, 6 hectares all told, while the remaining 3 hectares have the Graves appellation (2.5 hectares in red, 0.5 hectares in white).
