Domaine Rousset-Peyraguey: Tasting & Drinking

When I first came to the wines of Domaine Rousset-Peyraguey I don’t mind admitting I was expecting a strongly oxidative style, especially with wines such as the 2007 Sélection, which is made in the style of a vin de voile, in other words aged under a protective covering of flor, akin to a Vin Jaune from the Jura, or indeed a wine from Jerez. Combine this with a range of wines rumoured to be made with no added sulphites, Alain apparently doing little more than dusting the environment with his volcanic sulphur powder, and you will perhaps forgive me for expecting a style dominated by oxidation ahead of any other character.
