Château Bouscaut: Tasting & Drinking
My recent experiences of the wines of Château Bouscaut have largely been positive. Overall I think these are solid wines, robust, attractive and flavoursome, even if they are not imbued with great finesse or lift. Fortunately for me, recently assessed vintages seem to be worthy of a little more praise than some older vintages have garnered from influential critics, with the 2010s showing fairly well, and some good results in 2012 and 2014.
The white wines feel on the whole a touch more successful than the reds, in more recent vintages at least, with the 2012 Château Bouscaut Blanc showing particularly well during the primeur tastings. Having said that, the 2014 Château Bouscaut Rouge, tasted more recently, was no slouch either. Proprietors Sophie and Laurent are clearly making the necessary investments here, they have the energy and drive to improve things, and there is more to come from this estate I think.
