A Visit to Denis Dubourdieu, 2015: Tasting Notes
It was a delight to meet Denis Dubourdieu; he really is charming, helpful and approachable, while also holding some strongly formed views on wine in general and on where his wines sit within the pantheon of Bordeaux. Perhaps this belief is justified; after all, the wines he poured came from a mix of successful and more difficult vintages, and yet they all showed well. Despite the fact he works in some less renowned appellations he clearly has a good understanding of the terroirs at his disposal, and the wines displayed impressive purity, minerally form and a fine definition. I will be looking out for some of these wines, especially from the less well-known châteaux, in future. (19/1/16)
