Eric Chevalier: Vineyards

Domaine de l’Aujardière is located in the tiny hamlet of L’Aujardière, in the commune of St-Philibert-de-Grand-Lieu, almost directly south of the Lac de Grand Lieu. This puts it some distance from the other leading domaines of the Muscadet Côtes de Grandlieu appellation, such as Domaine du Haut Bourg and Domaine des Herbauges, both of which are found in Bouaye, on the north side of the lake.

Here Eric Chevalier tends about 25 hectares of vines, of which half are planted to Melon de Bourgogne and Folle Blanche, utilised in making Muscadet Côtes de Grandlieu and Gros Plant du Pays Nantais respectively. The other half is planted to a number of other varieties, including Fié Gris and Chardonnay in white, and Grolleau, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Franc in red. These latter varieties contribute to a small but interesting range of IGP wines.
