Château Ormes de Pez: Tasting & Drinking
As Bordeaux prices seem to climb ever upwards, those that have to keep their feet on the ground – me included – will need estates such as Château Ormes de Pez in order to remain in touch with the wines of Bordeaux. There is good quality here, often at a good price, this being one of a number of unclassified properties in the appellation of St Estèphe that offer a combination of good value and good quality.
Recent vintages worth looking out for include 2023, 2022, 2020, 2019, 2018 and 2016, in other words every decent and half-decent vintage in recent times. Other less exalted years in which the property over-performed include 2017 and 2014, the latter particularly strong in St Estèphe of course.
