Château Tauzinat L’Hermitage: Tasting & Drinking

The wines of Château Tauzinat L’Hermitage serve as good-value introduction to the St Emilion appellation, much as the wines of Château Taillefer do in Pomerol. In good vintages they display attractive summer berry and cherry fruits, laced with notes of tart berry-skin and fruit-stone. This usually comes cushioned in a fresh and supple texture, charming but correct. It presents a restrained and classically reserved style, the Moueix family having not succumbed to the temptation to ratchet up the extraction and oak as many others have done in the St Emilion appellation over the past couple of decades.

As such these wines provide good reliable drinking, but are probably best broached over the first five to ten years after the vintage. (12/7/18)
