Château Monbousquet: Tasting & Drinking

On collating my notes for this profile I received something of a surprise. My mental image of the wine of Château Monbousquet is one that is full of ripe fruit, leaning towards sur-maturité, perhaps marked by flavours of baked and dried fruits. In my mind the tannic structure is in keeping with this, being firm, robust, domineering even. It is a house style that I would associate with Perse, one that can be traced through his other wines, including Château Pavie. Certainly this was my recollection of the 2011 vintage, when the wine was just one of a line up of similarly chewy monoliths.
