Loire Tasting Snippets, 2014
Following on from last week’s Bordeaux Snippets, I thought I would pull together a few other random tasting notes from the Loire which would, without me inserting them here, otherwise probably never be published.
I start with a few wines tasted out on the road, although curiously not in the Loire. There is one wine from Château du Petit-Thouars, their first vintage from some newly-planted Chenin Blanc vines, tasted in April 2014 with Jim Budd. Then there are a selection of sweet odds-and-ends from Charles Sydney’s annual tasting, mostly tasted in January 2014, although I have slipped in one older tasting note as well.
I follow up with a selection of odd notes on wines tasted at home earlier this year, some delightful, some less so, although thankfully more of the former than the latter. Some come from domaines I am wholly familiar with, although one or two are less familiar and deserve a profile on Winedoctor. Rest assured, I am working on it! (29/6/14)
