Jérémie Huchet, 2018 Update
Jérémie Huchet is one of Muscadet’s young guns. While the vineyards are ancient, the domaine based in an old monastery in Château-Thébaud which dates back to at least the 17th century, Jérémie’s philosophy is modern, inquisitive and forward-looking. He took the domaine in hand back in 2001, grasping hold of the baton passed down from his father Yves Huchet. In doing so he assumed control of a Muscadet mini-empire comprising four different domaines, these being Domaine de la Chauvinière, Clos les Montys, Château de la Bretesche and Château de la Templerie.
While the wines of these four domaines remain very correct in style, Jérémie Huchet has not shied away from innovation. He reduced his dependence on synthetic treatments from the outset, before converting to full organic viticulture in 2010. In partnership with Jérémie Mourat he has created a fascinating range of long-lees-aged wines under the Bêtes Curieuses label. And now, in the 2017 vintage, he has also added three convincing cuvées parcellaires to his portfolio.
