Wilfrid Rousse: Tasting & Drinking

Wilfrid Rousse has long maintained a good reputation, and despite limited contact with his wines over the years I have had some good experiences here. The house style is rich in colour and fruit concentration, perhaps in part down to the practice of saignée which is universally adhered to. Hand-in-hand with this colour and concentration the wines also tend to display a good structure, with even the more entry-level cuvées showing admirable backbones of tannin. His is a name worth knowing in the Chinon appellation. (20/12/05, updated 27/3/20)
