Château de Coulaine: Charles Quirit

Charles Quirit, a chevalier and also Seigneur de Roche, married Charlotte de Jousselin on February 5th 1663. They had three sons, of which the first-born, unsurprisingly named Henri Quirit III, continued the line. On January 24th 1690 he married Anne Pannau, and their first-born was Henri Quirit IV (1692 – 1725), their other children Alexandre, Charles Anne and Marie. It is Henri Quirit IV that provides us with the next piece of evidence tying this family to the Coulaine seigneurie. He married Jeanne-Charlotte de Fesques (1695 – 1742), the daughter of Jean-Charles de Fesques (1695 – 1721), who held the titles not only of Seigneur de la Rochebousseau en Poitou and Seigneur de Marmande, but also as Baron de Coulaine en Touraine. It is no surprise, I guess, that the first of the next generation, Henri Quirit V (1721 – 1808), inherited the title and therefore was known as the Baron de Coulaine.

Henri Quirit V, Baron de Coulaine

Henri Quirit V, who was probably responsible for the restoration of the Coulaine chapel in 1770, married Marie-Madelene de Seguins-Cabassolle (died 1789) on July 28th 1743, and they had at least twelve children, a number of whom seem to have been called Henri or Hélène, or some derivative thereof (just to keep things really confusing). These included Henri Auguste, who assumed the barony, as well as Henri Edmée, who became a priest in Amboise. The others were Augustin Pierre and François René, both of whom joined a military regiment at Saintoge, and there were at least three daughters, Anne Hélène, Marie Hélène and Madeleine Julie, none of whom were said to have married.
