Loose Ends, 2024
I will be on the road quite a lot during the next few weeks, with very few (if any) updates to the site. My travels will take in enough visits in Bordeaux to write a full report on the 2021 vintage, my first taste of this vintage now that the wines are in bottle, as well a big St Emilion Grand Cru Classé tasting, and a look back at the 2014 vintage in Bordeaux as it reaches ten years of age. All of which will be written up for Winedoctor, of course.
Then I will be heading to the Loire for four days of tasting, two at the now rather emaciated Salon des Vins de Loire, and two at the other associated salons which include Madavin (AKA the Salon Saint-Jean), La Dive Bouteille and La Levée de la Loire. After that, a few days of visits in the Loire (if I can find time to make some appointments) followed by three days at Wine Paris.
As a consequence a few weeks from now I will be labouring beneath a weight of new reports and tasting notes, which means right now I am in the mood for tying up loose ends. With this in mind I finish this week with this diverse collection of tasting notes from Bordeaux and the Loire Valley which, until now, have been languishing in a back room somewhere in Winedoctor Towers. The notes include some significant wines from the likes of Château Suduiraut and Château Tertre-Roteboeuf, wines from domaines in Chinon and Vouvray I have tasted but I have simply not had the time to write up, as well as notes on a handful of bottles popped and poured at home.
