Domaine Mérieau: Tasting & Drinking

I first encountered the wines of Jean-François Mérieau very recently, in a tasting of wines from the 2014 vintage. It was the 2014 Cent Visages cuvée, showcasing Côt, in all its fragrant, perfumed, peony and rose-petal glory. Despite this, this charming aromatic profile came wrapped up in a wealth of dark and savoury fruit flavours. The 2015 Cent Visages, encountered a year or so later, was no less convincing. With striking examples of Sauvignon Blanc another feature of the portfolio, ripe and polished, and more reminiscent of the wines of Clos Roche Blanche than more generic and varietally-driven examples from the wider Touraine appellation, this is yet another reason to get to know the wines of this domaine a little better than I currently do.
