Jérémie Huchet: The Estates

The various domaines and vineyards which Jérémie Huchet owns and manages are best considered individually, beginning with the ‘original’, Domaine de la Chauvinière.

Domaine de la Chauvinière

Home to the Huchet family, Domaine de la Chauvinière is located on the very outskirts of the village of Château-Thébaud, almost directly on the banks of the Maine. Indeed, the first thing that greets you as you head south out of the village is a sign for Domaine de la Chauvinière. The cellars are surrounded by vines on several sides, as well as trees which outline the course of the Maine and an inconsequential tributary which runs just to the south of the domaine.

The soils are a shallow matrix of sand, gravel and pebbles, well-drained, which overlies the granodiorite bedrock that typifies many (but not all) of the Château-Thébaud cru communal vineyards. These soils are the source of numerous cuvées, including the cuvée parcellaire Chemin des Prièures.
