Domaine de Bel Air: Tasting & Drinking

I have only encountered the wines of Domaine Bel-Air at tasting, and have never had the opportunity to linger over a bottle for a more extended analysis. Nevertheless, even just a brief encounter with Joël and his wines is enough to inform that here we have a domaine taking natural wine to the limit, particularly with regard to the role of sulphur. This is hardcore non-interventional winemaking, on a level with the likes of Les Griottes, home to Patrick Desplats and Sébastien Dervieux. The banishment of sulphur dioxide from the winery has allowed oxidation to define the house style at Bel-Air, particularly with the white wines.
