Domaine des Baumard: Tasting Notes

Florent Baumard fashions a broad portfolio of wines from across a number of different Anjou appellations. In order to try and maintain a sense of order I have divided my tasting notes up within each vintage, beginning first with the dry wines, which usually means Savennières (Clos du Papillon, Clos de Saint Yves, Trie Spéciale) rather than Anjou as I have not tasted the Anjou cuvées very often. Thereafter I continue with the sweeter wines, first the Coteaux du Layon, followed by the Quarts de Chaume. I finish up in each case with other occasional cuvées, including vintage-dated Crémant de Loire.

The older vintages are presented here, from 2000 back to the oldest I have tasted. For the most recent wines tasted, 2021 and younger, see this previous page. For wines from the 2020 vintage through to 2001, see the previous page. Notes on non-vintage wines, mostly Crémant de Loire but also Verdelho and the curious Cuvée Ancienne de Jean Baumard, are also presented here, at the foot of the page.
