Domaine Vincendeau: Tasting & Drinking

The wines of Liv Vincendeau have above all else a sense of charm and freshness. The Anjou Blanc Le Raguenet is clean and bright, with fermentation in fibreglass rather than oak, the short élevage on the lees keeping the wine lively through to the moment of bottling. The style therefore leans more towards orchard fruit and flowers with perhaps a touch of varietal honey and lifted by a minty and leafy freshness, rather than anything more structured or serious. The Rosé de Loire L’Arpent du Saule is a multi-variety blend with appeal in its youth, although I sensed a great weariness in the 2015 vintage when poured alongside its rather energetic sibling from the following year.

The two sparkling wines are also worth knowing about, especially the Crémant de Loire, the style rich in perfumed fruit freshness and floral scents, with chalk, beeswax and citrus character. In my experience so far I find it superior to Gold, although this Vin de France also has merit.
