Les Terres d’Ocre: Vineyards
Les Terres d’Ocre is located on the Rue des Gravoches, to the north of Châtel-de-Neuvre, and it sits very close to the course of the Allier and its alluvial plain. It is based in a converted cowshed, the interior facilities thoroughly cleaned out and brought up to scratch, the exterior facade now painted a brilliant red.
Having started out with 9.5 hectares of vines, including 6.2 hectares of red varieties and 3.3 of white varieties, the domaine has since expanded to about 13 hectares. This expansion has been focused on white varieties, and as a consequence the domaine is now planted to a little less than half white (6 hectares), and a little more than half red varieties (7 hectares). The white varieties are Chardonnay and Tressallier, planted in approximately equal measures, while the red varieties are Gamay and Pinot Noir. About 7.5 hectares are positioned running up the slope on the opposite side of the road to the cellars, while the remainder are scattered about nearby.
