Château Peyrabon: Vineyards

As I have already indicated in my profile, the vineyards of Château Peyrabon are located to the west of the Pauillac appellation, in the commune of Saint-Sauveur. They have a close proximity to Château Liversan and Château Ramage La Batisse, two other high-flying Haut-Médoc properties. The estate’s position close to Pauillac is hinted at by the existence of not one but two grands vins made here, one in the Haut-Médoc appellation and one in Pauillac.

The vineyard is fairly extensive, having grown under the tenure of Patrick Bernard. Today the estate accounts for nearly 53 hectares of the Médoc, of which the majority, 45 hectares all told, lie within the Haut-Médoc appellation. These vines are largely gathered around the property. The Pauillac vines initially accounted for just 4 hectares, but this has grown so that there are now 7.25 hectares of vines contributing to this cuvée. This includes a 2-hectare parcel named Lande de Berret, purchased in 2006, which is situated in the Pauillac heartland quite close to both Château Lafite-Rothschild and Château Mouton-Rothschild.
