Château Pavie: Tasting & Drinking

It is too easy, when thinking of this longstanding premier grand cru classé estate, to focus not on the wine but on the controversy. The latter is something that has never been far from Château Pavie in recent years, consequent upon the acquisition of the estate by Gérard Perse in 1998, who has taken the domaine, and the style of the wine, in a very new direction. As I indicated on previous pages of this profile, there are those that admired the wines of the pre-Perse Pavie, but also those that found them weak and lily-livered.
