The Archive: Quinta do Noval

On this page I present a selection of old tasting notes on wines from Quinta do Noval, one of Port’s most famous names. Acquired by António José de Silva in 1894, its status was secured with the release of the 1931 Ports, a vintage bottling and the famed Nacional bottling. I don’t have any tasting notes on the 1931 (shame!), but I do have here a selection of old notes from a number of tastings I have attended over the years, as well as bottles tasted at home. These notes are generally quite dated. I include tasting notes on declared vintages but I also have some notes on the Traditional and Unfiltered Late Bottled Vintage wines, one of the better LBV bottlings, as well as some of the Quinta do Noval table wines.

In recent years I have only tended to report on these wines in the context of anniversary tastings, such as my Fifteen, Twenty and Twenty-Five Years On reports, or as Weekend Wines, so look there for more recent notes. For other dusty old tasting notes, check out the rest of my Archive. (20/2/21)
