The Archive: Madeira
While within the Winedoctor walls I focus on Bordeaux and the Loire Valley, I do have many other tasting notes lurking in the background that may be of interest. Here I present a selection of old tasting notes concerning my occasional encounters with Madeira, focusing on single-vintage wines. These notes are from a variety of sources, but were largely during a visit to the island a few years ago. They are generally quite dated, but I wanted to preserve them because they document some great experiences with some fascinating and sometimes incredibly old wines.
In recent years I have only tended to report on these wines in the context of anniversary tastings, such as my Fifteen, Twenty and Twenty-Five Years On reports, so look there for more recent notes. For other dusty old tasting notes check out the rest of my Archive. (6/3/21)
