The Archive: Albert Bichot
While within the Winedoctor walls I focus on Bordeaux and the Loire Valley, I do have many other tasting notes lurking in the background that may be of interest. Here I present a selection of old tasting notes on wines from the Burgundy négociant Albert Bichot.
These notes were exclusively made during a visit I made to Burgundy in 2009; as such they are pretty dated, but I wanted to preserve them for several reasons; first, because it was such an eye-opening journey into the diverse range that can be found at a single Burgundy address. Secondly, because of the high quality of the wines, and how well they aged, with wines from as far back as 1947 still gong strong. And thirdly, because the notes on the younger wines remain relevant, even more than a decade on.
In recent years I have only tended to report on wines from beyond Bordeaux and the Loire Valley in the context of anniversary tastings, such as my Fifteen, Twenty and Twenty-Five Years On reports, so look there for more recent notes. And for other dusty old tasting notes you could check out the rest of my Archive. (24/7/21)
