Domaine Vacheron: Tasting & Drinking
I confess I will always have a soft spot for the wines of Domaine Vacheron, and for the Vacheron family themselves, as the wines bring back such happy memories of that first visit back in 1993. Nevertheless, even when totally detached from the land and the family, tasting the wines in the UK, I can still sense the intrinsic quality. The domaine is famed for its red wines, perhaps not surprising with such a sizeable proportion of the vineyard committed to Pinot Noir, combined with a long track record of vinifying this variety, and also an obvious Burgundy-tinged search for quality. And indeed I would agree with anyone who held up Belle Dame as one of the finer examples of red Sancerre.
