Domaine Roux: Vineyards
Domaine Roux is situated south of Bourges, on the side of the D28, only a few kilometres from the waters of the Cher. It is ideally situated for working between the Quincy and Châteaumeillant appellations, being situated between the two. Nevertheless its origins as an farm seems undeniable, as it is surrounded by an ocean of wheat fields which shimmer golden and bright in late summer. The Roux family have no viticultural neighbours of note.
About 25 kilometres to the northwest are the vineyards of Quincy, where the Roux family have 7.5 hectares of Sauvignon Blanc, planted on the complex sandy-gravelly soils of the appellation. It is a somewhat more lengthy journey to Châteaumeillant, nearly 60 kilometres south of the domaine, where they have 3.3 hectares planted with Gamay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris.
The approach to work in the vineyard is conventional, with no leaning towards organic or biodynamic viticulture.
