Château de Plaisance: Tasting & Drinking

The sudden arrival of Château de Plaisance in my little wine world has been joyous. Vanessa is talented and dynamic, and I am delighted she found a backer to support her in bringing Château de Plaisance back to life. The style of wine she makes is right up my street; ever since I began to understand, only a few years ago now, the broad influence of botrytis on the Anjou style – even on the dry wines, which you might think are free of botrytis effect, but they are not – I have been looking out for vignerons making this style of wine; early-picked and rigorously sorted to exclude noble rot, giving wines which are tense, minerally, driven and delineated.

From early encounters, the 2020 La Grand Pièce and 2020 Les Zerzilles were my favourites, but I expect to taste many more great wines here in the future. (13/7/22)
