Château Barreyres: Tasting & Drinking
My first encounter with the wines of Château Barreyres was many years ago now, with older vintages, but recent opportunities to taste contemporary vintages have yielded good results. The wines are classically style, medium-bodied, occasionally savoury and frequently characterful. In desirable vintages, such as 2000 or 2005, as well as in recent years such as 2016, another vintage with a good reputation, this wine can offer superb value for money, giving forth all those delightful blackcurrant aromas and flavours, nuanced with touches of green peppercorn, and wrapped up in a more silky texture.
