Château Siaurac: Vineyards
Château Siaurac is located in Néac, in the Lalande-de-Pomerol appellation. As indicated in the introduction to this profile, the château is particularly grand for the region, and would not look out of place overlooking the D2, on the famed Route des Châteaux that runs along the Médoc. Today it is listed as a Monument Historique, a status awarded in 2015, and it is filled with art and ceramics. It sits barely a kilometre from the course of the Barbanne, which marks the boundary with the Pomerol appellation, close to which lie some famous Pomerol names including Château Gazin, which sits just 1.4 kilometres southwest of Château Siaurac. In the opposite direction, to the northeast, lies Château La Fleur de Boüard.
The vineyard is extensive, covering 46 hectares of land, the majority of which sits within a single block. Most of the vines either sit opposite the château, or alongside the road that runs from Château Siaurac back down the hill towards the Pomerol appellation. Indeed, just about all the vines along the road that runs between the château and point where it dips down towards the bridge over the Barbanne belong to Château Siaurac. There is in addition one relatively small and isolated parcel which sits at the side of the same road, but in the opposite direction, as it runs away from Pomerol.
