Domaine de Veilloux: Vineyards
The domaine is located in the more northern section of the Sologne, just to the north-west of Fougères-sur-Bièvre and its resplendent centuries-old château with which this domaine has long been associated. The town of Cheverny, and the associated appellations of Cheverny and Cour-Cheverny, are located about 12 kilometres away, to the north-east.
Today there are just over 17 hectares of vines, some of which are gathered directly around the domaine. The soils here are largely clay and limestone. As you would expect with a domaine that has long been managed using organic viticulture, and is now biodynamic, the Quenouix family do not use any chemical herbicides or pesticides, and instead they work the soil to control weeds, and treat vine maladies using wettable sulphur and copper sulphate, as well as making use of some herbal infusions. Their biodynamic status is certified by Ecocert.
