Jean Tatin & Chantal Wilk: Tasting & Drinking
While I am sure the names of Jean Tatin and Chantal Wilk will be familiar to committed fans of Loire Valley wines, it is through the Domaine du Tremblay label that most of us will encounter their wines.
In Quincy, the domaine cuvées from both Domaine des Ballandors and Domaine du Tremblay are both competent wines, but it is worth spending up for the Vieilles Vignes cuvée from the latter in my opinion. The real stars here, however, are Sucellus and its component cuvées released in the 2014 vintage, these being Gatebourse, Nouzats, Victoires and Chaumoux. These are great wines which deserve a place in the cellar of any fan of Sauvignon Blanc; I would much rather drink these than many lesser examples of Sancerre, which trade on the fame of their appellation, that is for sure.
