Domaine Lecomte: Tasting & Drinking
The wines of Domaine Lecomte are classically styled, fresh, honest and true. The straight Quincy and Vieilles Vignes cuvées offer charming drinking, even if the wines do seem to display some overtly varietal tinges at times, while the Génération I cuvée shows a firm frame of oak in its youth, and I sense it really needs some time, perhaps a year or two, for it to really come together.
I was pleasantly surprised by the fine quality found in the wines from Châteaumeillant here, both in the straight cuvée and the rather posher Folie Deuce cuvée. They are wines of flavour, texture and substance. Domaine Lecomte is, it would appear, a name worth looking out for. (20/10/17)
