Claude Riffault: Tasting & Drinking
This is far from one of the most famous domaines in Sancerre, but I think this low profile has perhaps facilitated something of a quiet revolution chez Riffault. It is a long time since I first tasted the wines of Stéphane’s father Claude Riffault, and while there was nothing at all wrong with the wines there was nothing particularly striking about them either. I don’t recall the exact vintages, or cuvées, it was so long ago (we are talking decades rather than years) but I do recall that I wasn’t interested in chasing down any further wines from the domaine.
