Alphonse Mellot: Tasting & Drinking
The name of Alphonse Mellot has long been associated with some of the very finest examples of Sancerre, in both red and white. Much of the domaine’s current position near the top of the Sancerre hierarchy is down to Alphonse Mellot Senior, who along with Jean-Marie Bourgeois and Vincent Pinard has helped to shape modern-day Sancerre. Nevertheless, we should not overlook the significant of Alphonse Mellot Junior; a pioneer for biodynamics in the region, Alphonse Junior has now had the helm here for some time, and quality seems largely to have been maintained.
