Domaine Tinel-Blondelet: Vineyards
The Tinel-Blondelet vineyards amount to approximately 15 hectares of vines, the majority of which are concentrated close to the town of Pouilly-sur-Loire. The other vines are in the Sancerre appellation, near Thauvenay.
Starting with Pouilly-Fumé Annick has 10 hectares here, in two notable plots. First and foremost is L’Arrêt Buffatte, the vineyard mentioned in my introduction. This lies close to the A77 at Nozet, and is thus very close to Château du Nozet (as in Domaine de Ladoucette) and also Domaine Didier Dagueneau. As already indicated, the lieu-dit is named for an old staging post (or arrêt buffatte) on this ancient road, where travellers could stop to refresh not only themselves but also their horses. The site has a south-west facing aspect on a hillside overlooking the Loire, and it is planted with vines now aged at least 35 years old. Most important are the soils and bedrocks here, which are Kimmeridgian marl.
Otherwise, many of the vines are located around Le Bouchot, a small village just to the north of Pouilly-sur-Loire, the vines here aged on average about 25 years. Here the soils and rocks are the Oxfordian Calcaires de Villiers.
